Frequently Asked

Things people ask before they come.

If your question isn't here, send us a note — we read every one.

Reservations

Booking a table.

How far in advance can I book?

Reservations open 30 days in advance through OpenTable. Holiday weekends and special occasions (Mother's Day, Valentine's, NYE) book up fast — book early.

Do you take walk-ins?

Yes — the bar & lounge are first-come every night, and we hold a few walk-in tables in the dining room too. If we're booked, the bar serves the full menu.

Can I book a table for more than 7 people?

OpenTable handles parties of 1–12. For 13–19 guests please call 303.993.6301. For 20+ guests, that's a private event.

What happens if I'm running late?

Call us. We'll hold your table for 15 minutes past your reservation time, but a quick call lets us plan around you. We'd rather know than guess.

Cancellation policy?

Cancel or modify through OpenTable at least 48 hours in advance. Parties of 8+ are held with a credit card; same-day cancellations or no-shows may be charged $20 per guest.

Is there a dress code?

Cabin casual. Flannels and sweaters welcome. Cocktail attire welcome. Anything in between, welcome.

Menu & Dietary

What's on the plate.

Do you accommodate gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian guests?

Yes, all of the above. Most of our dinner menu is gluten-free or can be made so. We have at least 3 vegan options, plenty of vegetarian, and dairy-free options on every course. Tell us in the reservation notes.

Allergies?

Tell your server when you sit down — and ideally in your reservation notes too. Cross-contact is possible in our kitchen, so for severe allergies (especially nut, shellfish, gluten celiac), we'll talk you through what we can guarantee.

How often do menus change?

Dinner menu shifts seasonally (4x/year) plus weekly specials. Brunch is more stable — we change a couple of items each season. Drinks rotate continuously based on what's coming in.

Do you have a kids' menu?

We don't have a printed kids' menu, but the kitchen will happily make pasta with butter, simple grilled chicken, mac & cheese, or a kid-sized burger for the smaller guests. Just ask.

Where do you source from?

We work with farms and producers across Colorado — Callicrate Ranch in Colorado Springs for our short ribs, plus a rotating list of Front Range growers, ranchers, and small-batch makers. More on our Story page.

Do you take menu special requests?

For private events, absolutely — we build menus together. For dinner service, we keep to the printed menu but happily accommodate dietary needs and modifications within reason. Just ask.

Visit & Logistics

The practical stuff.

Where do I park?

Free lot behind the cabin (enter from the alley off 23rd Street). Metered Pearl Street parking out front. The Pearl Street parking garage is a 4-minute walk if everything's full.

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Yes — main floor and restrooms are wheelchair accessible via the side ramp. Reserved accessible seating is available; please mention any needs in your reservation notes or call ahead.

Are kids welcome?

Of course. We see lots of families, especially at brunch. The kitchen will happily make simple kid-friendly plates.

Are dogs welcome on the patio?

Yes — well-behaved dogs are welcome on our seasonal patio (May through October, weather permitting). Service animals welcome anytime, anywhere.

Do you have outdoor seating?

Our garden patio runs from late April through mid-October, weather and Boulder snow permitting. About 30 seats. First-come or reservable through OpenTable when in season.

What's the history of the cabin?

The little wood-framed cottage at 2328 Pearl Street has been feeding Boulder for a century. For nearly forty years it was John's Restaurant, run by John and Nancy Bizzarro. River and Woods opened in the cabin's next chapter on September 6, 2016. The full story's on our Story page.

Do you have parking for events?

Our private lot holds about 18 cars; for full-buyout weddings we coordinate with the Pearl Street parking garage and arrange shuttle service if needed. Our event team handles all of that.

Private Events

Buyouts & celebrations.

What sizes of events do you host?

From 8-person semi-privates to 90-person full buyouts. Five distinct spaces (Miner's Cabin Main Room, Backyard, Backyard Winter Room, Whole Place, Community Table). See our events page for capacities and details.

How much does a buyout cost?

Full-cabin buyouts have a food & beverage minimum that varies by season — generally $8K weekday, $12K weekend, peak holiday weekends higher. Our event team will share specifics for your date.

Can you host wedding ceremonies?

Yes — for full buyouts. The patio (in season) and the Miner's Cabin Main Room can each host ceremonies, then transition for dinner.

How far in advance should we book?

Saturday weddings — 9-12 months out. Holiday parties — by Labor Day. Weeknight events and intimate semi-privates — often confirmable within a month.

Where do I start?

Send an inquiry through our events page with the basics — guest count, date, type of event — and our event team will reply within one business day.
